Feliz cumpleanos Skylar! Yesterday was Skylar's 21st birthday! Being on the farm with no vehicles and nothing in walking distance, we didn't have too many options. But Deepa (the owner of the farm who is not currently here owns a lot of property in the Rincon de la Vieja Parque de Nacional and all of it except the living portions is thick Costa Rican jungle. So we put on our long pants and snake boots, grab two machetes and head off on one of the trails we hadn't yet taken. Not too long after we run into two of the Ticos (the name for the local people) who also work for Deepa. They wereally cutting some more space in the jungle for more crops. Skylar talks to Alex for a few minutes and within minutes he starts walking away from his work, wanting us to follow. With the language barrier (haven't met anyone in this part of the country that speaks any English) we are not sure exactly where we're going or why, but keep following. About 15-20 minutes later the path ends at the most beautiful series of waterfalls and swimming holes I have ever seen, right in the middle of the forest. I'm still in awe. We follow Alex back to the farm since there was not a trail the whole way there then gather up the three other workers and all six dogs and head back to our new found paradise for the rest of the day. Unfortunately I did not bring my phone so you all will have to wait for photos!
