The Plan
We are flying out of San Francisco on Sunday night, have layovers in Las Vegas and Houston, and land in the capitol of Costa Rica, San Jose, on the 11th. We will either stay in San Jose or take a bus west to Liberia and stay there. By Tuesday, we will make it to our first farm, Hacienda Luz Del Corazon. This 183 acre ranch is on the border of Rincon de la Vieja National Park and is run by Deepa Gleason. On this farm we will be planting, weeding, making beds, taking care of ducks, chickens and dogs, harvesting crops, working with a rabbit/ tilapia pond hydroponic system and more. Deepa has 3000 plantain trees, 100 guanabana trees, 800 citrus, cilantro, green onions, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes and sweet chilis. Deepa is an acupuncturist and registered nurse who teaches Medical Spanish courses. We are soo excited to meet her! Unfortunately, I can't put up a link for her farm website because you have to be a WWOOF member to see it but luzdelcorazon.net has a lot of great farm life photos. We will be staying with Deepa for at least a month.
